Should We Be Buying the Tiger Woods Dip? Buy, Sell, Hold

From Tiger Woods’ dropping card prices to Francisco Lindor’s slow start, there are plenty of buy-low opportunities across the sports card market.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have struggled to get anything going against Brooklyn, and are currently down 0-2 in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. Outside of postseason success, though, Antetokounmpo has done it all and has become one of the hobby’s favorite stars.

His 2013 Prizm Base PSA 10 is down 38% over the last 30 days while his 2013 Select Base PSA is down 19% over the same period.

Geoff’s pick: Hold

Steph Curry

Even with the Warriors crippled by injuries, Curry found a way to get Golden State into the NBA Play-In Tournament. He worked his way into the MVP conversation while averaging 32 PPG in 2021, and collectors have even resorted to buying up non-rookies from Prizm and Optic with his prices so high.

Curry’s 2009 Topps Base PSA 10 has a low POP of just 355, and is down 17% over the last 60 days.

Geoff’s pick: Hold

Matthew Stafford

Stafford’s run in Detroit ended this offseason with a trade to the Rams, and some collectors think this is his best opportunity ever at a Super Bowl run. His cards got a small bump in January after the trade was announced and then another bump in March right before it became official.

Stafford’s 2009 Topps Chrome Base PSA 10 is up 610% over the last 180 days while his 2009 Bowman Chrome Base PSA 10 is up 173% over the same period.

Geoff’s pick: Buy

Francisco Lindor

Lindor signed a massive 10-year, $341 million deal with the Mets in April, and his slow start hasn’t looked great for that deal.

Collectors often love Topps and Topps Chrome rookies, but Lindor’s Heritage has gained popularity recently because of its more affordable price — his 2015 Heritage Base PSA 10 has been averaging $106 over the last 60 days while his Topps Chrome PSA 10 has been averaging $287.

Despite the popularity, that 2015 Heritage Base PSA 10 is still down 26% over the last 60 days.

Tiger Woods

Woods’ cards have been going through a dip as he recovers from a major car accident. His future with golf is uncertain, though his legacy in the sport will remain unchanged.

His 2001 Upper Deck PSA 10 is down 16% over the last 30 days.
