How much is that card worth anyway?

Jordan Fleer RC, LeBron Exquisite RPA and more: Auction Watch

This week’s Auction Watch is led by a 1986 Michael Jordan Fleer PSA 10 rookie card and a LeBron James RPA that could go down as one of the most expensive basketball cards ever sold.

Here are some items ending soon that you should be watching for:

1986 Fleer Michael Jordan RC PSA 10

Auction: PWCC

Current bid: $376,100.00

Ends: April 18

Notes: A grail card for many basketball fans, this 1986 Fleer Jordan example comes with an iconic PSA 10 grade. This offering features bright colors and has avoided edge chipping that harms many other examples from this set.

Along with Jordan, the 1986 Fleer Basketball set has iconic cards from Magic Johnson, Dominique Wilkins, Charles Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwon and more. Some lesser-known players even carry high price tags as collectors attempt to complete the set.

2003 Topps Contemporary Collection Gold LeBron James RC /25 BGS 9.5

Auction: PWCC

Current bid: $100,300.00

Ends: April 20

Notes: One of James’ most visually stunning rookie cards, this Topps example comes in a BGS 9.5 and is numbered to just 25. Featuring three 9.5 sub-grades, the card’s 9 comes from a soft left corner.

With a great design and a low population, this is one of James’ more underrated rookie cards.

1986 Fleer Basketball Wax Box, 36 CT

Auction: PWCC

Current bid: $105,100.00

Ends: April 18

Notes: Not satisfied with only the Fleer Jordan rookie? Here’s your chance at several other HOFers as well in a truly iconic set.

While this box is filled with authentic packs, PWCC notes that the packs may have originated from different locations. All 36 packs are considered authentic.

1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal Honus Wagner PSA Fair 1.5

Auction: Heritage Auctions

Current bid: $1,575,000

Ends: May 6

Notes: Despite the low grade, this Wagner PSA 1.5 example is extremely popular. A PSA 2 sold for over $775,000 five years ago, so expect this example to potentially top $2,000,000.

This offering suffers from a vertical crease as well as multiple soft corners, likely due to scrapbook presentation.

1952 Topps Jackie Robinson #312 PSA Mint 9

Auction: Heritage Auctions

Current bid: $300,000

Ends: May 6

Notes: An incredibly well-preserved card, this 1952 Topps PSA 9 offering has no superior examples and is just one of 11 to earn a 9.

Featuring sharp corners and strong centering, Heritage expects this to sell for more than $800,000 as it combines a beautiful glossy finish with one of baseball’s most influential legends.

2003-04 UD Exquisite LeBron James RPA /99 BGS 9/10

Auction: Goldin Auctions

Current bid: $1,150,000.00

Ends: April 24

Notes: One of James’ most iconic and important rookie cards, this stunning Exquisite RPA could end up as one of the most expensive cards ever sold while likely topping $2 million at the end of this auction.

A beautiful three-color patch paired with blue ink, this offering is graded a BGS 9/10 and is numbered to just 99.

2000 Playoff Contenders #144 Tom Brady Signed Championship Ticket Rookie Card /100

Auction: Goldin Auctions

Current bid: $900,0000

Ends: April 24

Notes: Along with the LeBron James Exquisite RPA, this Brady rookie could top $2 million at the end of this auction. Considered by many to be a Brady grail card, this Contenders offering features a clean black autograph and is numbered to just 100.

Graded a BGS 8.5/10, a similar card with a BGS 9 autograph recently sold for $2.25 million through Lelands.
